Charlie Favour

Charlie Favour is a talented artist of Southwest jewelry that features silverwork, colorful stone inlay, and leatherwork. Born in 1950 in Prescott, Arizona, he grew up around ranches and rodeos; it was when he was 11 years old that he began his life-long association with braiding.  In 1970, Charlie started doing leather work professionally when he opened a leather and Native American art store in Aspen, Colorado.  In 1980 he resettled in Northern New Mexico, engaging in the fly fishing business and continuing with his leather craft. Charlie would divide his time between Santa Fe and his studio overlooking Abiquiu Lake.

Throughout his career, Charlie has been a serious student of all aspects of Native American crafts and the leatherwork of the old-time cowboys.  He has achieved a high degree of expertise in all aspects of his craft, including beadwork, Native American footwear, hand-tanning, traditional western tooling and braiding.

In 2012, Charlie Favour moved back to his home state of Arizona. He is now living in the Verde Valley, close to where his grandparents and great-grandparents settled so long ago. He is an avid fisherman and when he isn’t making jewelry, he enjoys spending time on the Verde River.
