Tommy Jackson

Tommy Jackson was born in Phoenix, Arizona on January  20, 1958.  He is a Navajo artist from Chinle, Arizona.  Tommy learned the art of silversmithing from his mother and father, Martha and Gene Jackson.

Tommy is known for his work in both gold and silver.  He has won numerous awards for his beautiful and unique jewelry from the Heard Museum Show in Phoenix, Santa Fe Indian Market and The Museum of Northern Arizona, to name a few.  He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

In recent years, he taught at Wide Ruins Community School.  He taught Navajo children Navajo reading, writing, history and culture and arts and crafts.  Many of his former students are now established jewelers themselves.

Tommy is married to a wonderful woman named Marie Jackson, who is also a jeweler. They have seven children and reside in Ganado, Arizona.  He is now working on jewelry full-time with his children and wife, Marie. “Marie and I give a lot of credit to the Lord for blessing our hands and giving us talent to make unique and beautiful jewelry,” says Tommy.
