Olin Tsingine was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1975. His mother is Hopi and is father is Hopi/Navajo. He grew up near First Mesa on the Hopi reservation, and the Hopi culture and desert landscape greatly inspired his creative expression from an early age.
Olin took his first soldering class in his early 30s and quickly excelled in the craft. Olin initially specialized in both tufa cast and sand cast jewelry, but soon mastered numerous other jewelry techniques such as ingot silver, inlay, and heishi bead rolling. We find his designs well balanced and creative, as well as showcasing the finest materials. Tsingine jewelry is often adorned with fine, old, Southwest turquoise as well as Mediterranean Coral. Every piece he creates is truly one of a kind!
Acclaimed jewelry artists, Steve LaRance, Marion Denipah, Edison Cummings, and Cody Sanderson were instrumental in helping Olin learn his craft. Olin also pays tribute through his work to the beautiful jewelry of fellow Hopi, the legendary Charles Loloma. Following in these artists’ footsteps, Olin has become a well-respected and sought-after silversmith in his own right who is continuously advancing his spectacular art.
